Through projection, painting, adhesive murals and craft-based processes, the Melbourne-based female artists in this project invited the audience to engage with the visual potential of fluorescent colour. Over the course of the exhibition, the artists made NGV Studio their home. The space was used as a testing ground for experimentation, collaboration, and the development of new works, presented at the closing of the show. The Fluoresce Studio artists are Eddy Carroll, Michelle Francis (of Frankie and Swiss), Nien-San (Lily) Lee, Rowena Martinich, Rachel Jessie-Rae O’Connor, Tania Schultz, Rosa Tato and Yandell Walton. The artists came together under the vision of Rowena Martinich who has been coordinating fluorescently themed exhibitions since 2006.
