Rowena Martinich and Geoffrey Carran created a dynamic colourful work, depicting two dancing egrets in 2022’s Birdcage at the Flemington Spring Racing Carnival. Flexing their feathers, this elegant pair of birds are showing a flamboyant display with their wings outstretched, attention seeking, checking out each other’s suitability and flair!

The abstract expressive painting is a colourful celebration; it is feminine and sophisticated, and reflective of the abundant expression through fashion at the carnival. It is dynamic and energetic and the mural taps into the colour and culture of the spring racing carnival.

Martinich&Carran partnered with Joey Scandizzo Salon, Jade Kisnorbo Makeup and Eleven Australia to bring this project to life. We love working with creative alliances, bringing brands to the fore. Working at a large scale, we activate the spaces that our work inhabits, enhancing identity, and bringing people and life to places.
