Mrs Edgar Journal Colab
Martinich’s collaboration with Australian stationery brand Mrs Edgar has now continued across two consecutive collections, extending her painting practice into a series of functional, beautifully considered objects designed to become part of everyday life.
Beginning with original artwork, the collaboration translates Martinich’s expressive use of colour, movement and gesture across teacher planners, everyday planners, notebooks and accessories. The repeat collaboration has allowed the relationship to evolve beyond a single product release, building an ongoing visual connection between Martinich’s work and the Mrs Edgar community.
The partnership reflects Martinich’s broader interest in taking painting beyond the canvas and allowing it to live in new forms. There is something particularly rewarding about seeing the energy of a large scale abstract work reinterpreted at an intimate scale, where it can be held, carried and used each day.
The collaboration has also created a strong connection with Mrs Edgar’s community of teachers and educators. As Martinich’s own practice increasingly includes school residencies, workshops and creative learning, the relationship between art and education feels especially relevant.
Returning for a second year has made the collaboration especially meaningful, allowing Martinich to explore how different artworks can be adapted across product formats while still retaining the immediacy and energy of the original paintings.
Collaborations such as this allow Martinich’s work to reach audiences beyond galleries and public spaces, while continuing to explore how an artwork can shift in scale, material and purpose without losing its identity.
