Rowena Martinich is a Surfcoast based artist, renowned for her use of radiant colour in abstract expressionist paintings and public art. Rowena paints in a multitude of architectural contexts; embellishing foyers, commercial interiors, entire building facades, transitory spaces as well as residential interiors.
In June 2015 Rowena Martinich and Geoffrey Carran were invited to participate in a residency and mural project in New York City. Based in Brooklyn, the pair were given a number of prominent walls to paint. The first of these was a large wall at EBC High School for Public Service in Bushwick, Brooklyn. This wall was part of an ongoing mural series curated by the Brooklynk Project; bringing quality art into educational spaces and interacting with local youth.
